The NIRI chapter enjoyed discussion during a luncheon on Thursday, December 15, 2022, at Nicholson’s Pub. Discussion was led by Dan Barnett who shared insights about how he interacts with retail investors who are clients he advises in the wealth management services division at a local investment firm. Interesting points included:
Most clients don’t have the time or interest in studying publicly traded companies and rely on investment advisors
Exceptions include proxy contests and clients who tend to use FinTech tools to aggregate information company information
Consistency of messaging from company IROs helps advisors manage concerns by clients that occur on occasion
Institutional funds managed by the firm help inform advisors who have discretion in asset selection for client portfolios.
Dan Barnett is a senior portfolio manager and principal at Johnson Investment Counsel, a Cincinnati-based Registered Investment Advisor firm. More information is available at johnsoninv.com.
Several chapter members also made toy donations to the Cincinnati Ronald McDonald House, benefiting families with critically ill children.
